Facebook Snooping by College Admissions Offices Rising

Everyone at my school changes their Facebook names to little witty things when senior year rolls round to prevent colleges from seeing stuff. But they don’t know that by having your email, colleges can still find you on Facebook (Or at least it did as of a couple months ago. It changes so fast that I have no idea). That’s why I made another email just for college when I began this process, totally different from my email for Facebook.

But either way, I don’t have one single thing on my profile that could be construed as bad. But it’s almost a tradition at this point for seniors to change their names, so I went along with it for fun and laughs.

Yeah I have heard people being rejected from some top schools b/c of all the drinking and party pics on facebook when they totally had the grades and extracurricular to get in there.
Instead of hiding things, its better to just not post them and have them open to the public, if you have any of those.

I don’t understand… if you don’t have pics of you drunk/smashed what’s the point of going to length to hide your profile? In fact, I’d rather an adcom see my entire profile… I’d be more than happy to accept any friend reqs from them

@Seahawks506 Because it’s a tradition of sorts.
