Factored into BCMP GPA?

Are the following courses factored into BCMP gpa?

Statistics
Physiology (many cell bio stuff)
Genetics (obviously yeah?)
Anatomy
Plant or microbial biology

Com'on anyone?

depends what department they are listed under...I would think that all of those factor into your BCMP gpa and you could list them under math(for stats) and bio (for all the rest) when filling out your primary. If they aren't, though, according to AMCAS then they will change their assignment to the correct category.

Yes to all.

What if you're an engineering major and have to take higher-level math (higher than calculus)? Are classes such as differential equations and linear algebra factored into the BCMP gpa?

Your engineering classes are not factored into your BPCM GPA but the upper level math courses you take will be. My linear algebra and differential equations class certainly was.

What about physics majors taking advanced physics courses (Quantum, E&M, Mechanics, etc)?

Yep. Just like advanced bio, or advanced math, or advanced chemistry. They are all included.

BCPM GPA takes into account ALL bio, chem, physics, and math courses. All of them - intro level, higher level, and graduate level courses taken as an undergrad. All of them.

right, but not things like astronomy, earth science, etc. correct?

What about a class called heat transfer? It is basically higher-level thermodynamics (which is part of chemistry and physics).

If it's in the Physics department, all classes will count.

This is part of the reason why courses like that are inappropriate for premeds. You are free to goof off in other courses -- but your BCPM GPA is for serious coursework.

I don't think it' would be part of my BCPM GPA then if I go to UMD:
http://www.sis.umd.edu/bin/soc?term=200708&crs=ENCH

It says these courses are part of the Clark school of engineering.

So, theoretically, someone could space out their BCPM classes and study a lot for everyone in hopes of a 4.0 BCPM GPA?

You don't need to space out your BPCM classes to do well in them. I took between 2-4 every semester and did fine. The longer it takes you to fulfill your premed prereqs, the later you'll be taking the MCAT.
