<p>Which year do I report for? 2006-2007? because that asks for the 2005 tax return, which isn't released yet. Do I estimate for the 2004 value and input it for 2005? Or do I move back a year and fill out 2005-2006?</p>
<p>The FAFSA is for 2005 data. Some people wait for all of the tax info to arrive (they have to mail it to you by Jan 30th by law), do their taxes quickly, and then copy the info from the 2005 tax form onto the FAFSA. Other people get the 2005 data from payroll slips and so forth and file the FAFSA before Jan 30th. You can file the FAFSA using estimated data and then amend it later.</p>
