When you are asked how many children in college, when filling out the fafsa forms, does grad school count as having someone in college if going more than half time, or just a 4 year school? I know student loans can be defered in grad school, but I didn't know if you can say you had a student still in college if you had younger children starting at that time.
Thanks.

I'd like to know this answer too. Anyone know the rule?

You have to ask the UG school of each other child- for instance Berkeley says yes you can count the grad student, UVA said no, you cannot count the grad student, so it goes both ways

Yes-- grad school counts, so long as it is a school eligible to participate in federal financial aid programs. This is a function of the FAFSA instructions, not the interpretation of the various college finaid offices.

Remember too, that in order to include a child as "in college" for purposes of Q67, the child also has to be a "household member" included in Q66. So the parents need to be providing more than half of that child's support in 08/09 (it doesn't matter if the child actually lives in the household).
