FAFSA EFC vs actual EFC for UCs

My daughter is applying as a freshman to multiple University of California campuses. We completed the FAFSA and a few days later we got an EFC of 24000. We are in state. When the UC campuses send us their financial aid packages, should I expect their EFC to be the same as the FAFSA EFC? Higher? Lower?

The FASFA EFC only determines if you qualify for Federal aid (Pell Grant) which you do not.

To get a more accurate FA picture, use the Net Price calculator for each campus.

What is your income since you might be eligible for Cal Grant (low possibility) or the Middle class scholarship which could give you some FA?

With an EFC of $24000, unlikely you will get any FA from the UC’s and probably offered only the student loans and parent plus loans.

EFC is the minimum you will pay and the UC’s to not meet need.

Thank you. Very helpful. Regarding the Middle Class Scholarship Program, there is a stated limit of $177,000. Does this mean annual income + assets can not exceed $177,000? Or that income can not exceed $177,000 and, separately, assets can not exceed $177,000?

The limit is income and assets
