I have one daughter starting her 3rd year of college. We did FAFSA back in January and got her FA package from school. My EFC is $6415. My youngest daughter is starting her senior year of high school, but will graduate in December and start college in January 2016. Do I need to go correct oldest daughters FAFSA to reflect 2 students in college for 2015-2016 school year? Do I just start a new FAFSA for youngest daughter? I’m so confused?
FAFSA is per student, so student who starts college in January 2016 needs her own.
What are her stats? Maybe she would get better scholarship opportunities if she waited until fall?
Is she eligible for Gates Millenium? Has she considered Questbridge?
That is strange situation. For the youngest, you need to file her fafsa and indicate 2 in college. For the oldest, you can contact her financial aid office and ask if there can be a reevaluation of aid with 2 scheduled to be in college in Spring.
Youngest daughter is an athlete and will receive some athletic aid, but it was not decided she would graduate early until recently. She is in a fall sport, so going early really gives her a great head start. I just wanted to make sure I did the FAFSA correctly. I completed youngest daughters today and she will be Pell elligible. Oldest daughter was not Pell elligible with previous EFC based on one in college. We have a meeting with the atheltic department and financial aid office in a few weeks so I will have to see if they can reevaluate oldest daughter. Thanks for the replys.
You can always file a ‘change of circumstances’ appeal for older daughter. Usually there is a form on the FA page, and they request the reason for the change, like lost job, death, move, medical, but I’d guess you could include another child in school.
