FAFSA Household size help

HI, I was wondering if anyone here might know the answer to my question. I plan on contacting FAFSA and asking them as well.

I live in my grandfather's house (that he owns) with my father (who does not own or pay rent/mortgage). My father does not pay for my grandfather's expenses. Actually my grandfather pays for many of mine. What is my household size considered? I couldn't really find a clear answer.

This was addressed recently - it’s your immediate family (you, parents, siblings) plus people in the household that your immediate family is supporting. Since your grandfather is not a member of your immediate family, and your father is not supporting him, he is not part of your “household” for FAFSA purposes. (He’d be considered more like a housemate . . . despite the familial relationship.)

Thank you!
