Fafsa WorkStudy Question

I have a question on the fafsa, I was wondering if I have to report my workstudy income even if I did not do taxes? because I made too little. I have a w-2 form. Anywhere on the fafsa do I have to report ??

Also I went to review my fafsa and I thought I made a mistake but then I realized I didn’t and I don’t need a correction, but my fafsa now says status not completed. What do I do??

There is a question on the fafsa that specifically asks about WS earnings…which are then subtracted from your income for FAFSA calculation purposes.

So you DO list the income…and also answer that other question…so it can be discounted.

You start student financial information in the 2018/19 FAFSA with your income from the 2016 W2 (normally box 1 gross federal wages).

Then you will say that you didn’t file a tax return in 2016.

Then you will provide the work study income from 2016 where it asks for “income from need based employment” (question 44c).
