Fafsa

Is it really worth it if say.. your parents make over 130k a year? Will they factor in personal hardships or other financial burdens (such as having many children, sick children, etc)

I don't want to waste money applying for financial aid I know I'm not going to get. (and too lazy to read the instructions)

Thanks in response.

I think the FAFSA is free. A 130k a year is a lot of money...but you should just apply anyway. Your EFC is probably going to be quite high, especially if your family have a lot of money in the bank.

ok thanks

btw what is EFC?

how much your family is expected to contribute

efc = expected family contribution

I'm in a similar position; I'm filling out the fafsa and submitting it to all of my schools that don't also require the css profile.

The css is what costs money; it's just another college board scheme and imo, charging money to fill out a financial aid form is absolutely crazy (especially when it won't amount to anything for me).
