Failed Chem 20A, what should I do?

<p>Chem 20A is the first class I ever failed in life, apparently to a person like me never took chem in life, Scerri's lecture was not helping at all. I was literrally staring at him the entire quarter, I thought I could pass the class with a C but god did not help me this time, I ended up with an F. I got 90+ on thinkwell and B+ on pink book and C+ on midterm. Maybe I did not do well on my final, or the curve is way too high. Anywayz we all know he has his own way of grading. Well, I am planning to retake the class, but I do not know how, and I do not know the effect of retaking this class, will that effect me from applying for grad school? So can anyone tell me how and what is the effect? (I am a double E major btw and Chem 20 is the only chem class I need...)</p>

<p>I think the F will still show up on your transcript but it will show that you retook it. You only have a certain number of units you can retake from failing.</p>

<p>Dunno what this will do for grad school but after you retake it your new grade will be the only one factored into your GPA</p>

<p>I’m curious how you got to never take Chem in high school and you ended up in a major that requires Chem 20A</p>

<p>All engineering majors require 20A…including computer science and electrical engineering :/</p>

<p>I believe the max course we can retake is 16 units. Will that F on my transcript really effect my admission to grad school if I get an A or a B when I retake it? </p>

<p>BTW, you only need 2 yr of physical science and 1 yr of life science, and I took both AP Physics B and AP Physics C</p>

<p>what sort of grad school are we talking about? That will determine what kind of effect this grade will have.</p>

<p>its kinda iffy if it would look bad for grad school. if you get a really good GPA from now on and also get an A in the retake, i doubt that F would matter since it would just seem like you had a little slip up. if your retake is bad and your gpa is mediocre, that F will look mad suspect.</p>

<p>retake and get an A then you’re fine. Get a C or lower you’re screwed</p>

<p>and if you’re double E, I think you need both 20A and 20B… at least that’s what I and my friend did for our catalog year.</p>
