It is the most diverse student body in the school's history:

38% minority US-citizens
55% white US-citizens (inc. unknown)

The African American enrollment of 9% just missed the school's high of 9.06% in 1998. All other groups, including International set new all-time highs. In particular Swarthmore is among the elite schools with the highest percentages of both Latino/a and Asian American students.

07% International
09% African American
01% Native American
17% Asian American
11% Hispanic
55% white US

Here's a graph that shows Swarthmore's and selected other schools' enrollment percentages of white US students dating back to 1976. This graph shows the changing evironment in high education rather dramatically as Swarthmore has gone from 87.5% white to 55% white. That is a difference is immediately apparent on a college campus.
