Oh yes please more recs on Mirco and Macro teachers. I must take them both this year at UT and have no idea who to take. I just know I’m very bad with trick questions and I’d rather have someone whose tests are exactly over what he goes over in class.

Why do you say unless you are a geoscience major? Are you assuming those students are better at math or do they get easier teachers or something?

^ For geoscience, iirc, it is important they take Calculus at UT because they well also be taking other Calculus-based classes such as physics and whatnot. Nothing to do with me thinking they are better at Calculus, its required because it will come up later in their coursework.

[QOUTE]What if calculus can’t be avoided? Do you have any suggestions.?

If it can’t be avoided try and find a professor who can teach well and take advantage of the tutoring at Jester. Also, try to take an easier course load so you can focus on Calculus.

Try YouTube videos and check out Paul’s Online Math Notes. Good Luck ;)

LonghornDan, for M 408L D. Radin class tends to make the better grades and I’ve heard she gives good notes (although she has an attitude problem).

May I add that by joining the UTranstion organization you can get free tutoring hours at Jester so check it out at the Student Services Building (SSB).

I am a geoscience major, but I was planning on taking all my calc AND physics classes at HCC over this summer, next summer, and maybe my sophomore summer if I need to.

Is there a problem with doing that or could I just take calc at HCC and then take physics at UT?

Which physics course? Engineering Physics (PHY 303K, PHY 303L) or Regular Physics? I suggest taking both Calc and Physics here… It’s not too bad .

I have to take PHY 303L and 303K (it also says 301/101L and 316/116L can be taken instead, which track do you recommend?)

Well I had heard about 59% fail rates and hard professors etc. so I already signed up for M408K and M408L at my local CC this summer. Do you think taking them there will screw me for college physics or chemistry classes?

i think you should be fine, just because you’re taking it at a CC does not mean that it’s any easier or harder; the teachers might be less stressed and generally better, but you should be fine for future chem and math classes
