@Gumbymom It really frustrates me that had I just put my major as something like CIS or something unimpacted I would have probably been admitted by rather now where i’m surely going to be rejected by CPP because I chose Computer Science.
@buffmelon Did you put an non-impacted major as an alternate? This is recommended by CPP since they do consider alternative majors.
@Gumbymom I’m sorry to say that I may have put an even more impacted major as my alternate in Computer Engineering (Not so sure about that). I wish I could do all my college apps over again. However, i’m just going to have to live with whatever I get. I was waitlisted by UCR and I am still waiting on CPP so i’m just going to continue hoping one of them take me otherwise i’m headed to CC 
@buffmelon: I understand since my younger son is a CS major and when he applied he did not even put down an alternate major for any of his schools. There is was no other major he was interested in pursuing. I wish you Good Luck and hope you will hear soon.
Thanks @Gumbymom, Lots of good information. Looks like I would have had a better chance if I applied as a chemical engineering major, which is what I was leaning toward but thought was more impacted. I guessed wrong. All the classes I took at the CC was geared toward CPP. Since I did not finish my IGETC then there are a few classes that will not transfer to UCI. I’m actually considering going to a CC in the summer and fall and finishing up my IGETC. I only have 3 classes to complete my IGETC and will have completed over 50 units by the end of the spring session so I could reapply in August for admission as a transfer student for the winter quarter. I really wanted to enroll as a freshman so I could sign the 4 year pledge and with all the classes I have cleared, possibly try for a double major. Coming in as a transfer student it’s a 2 year pledge, with the engineering curriculum, a second major or minor is nearly impossible. I wish CPP would let me know either way so I could get on with my life. 
My daughter was waitlisted into CPP, applied as a civil engineering major, 3.75 CSU GPA, 1130 (m+CR) SAT, got accepted into UCI, UCSC, CSULB, denied by CPSLO, in state not local, rigorous HS AP And Honor classes, Taking AP Calc BC this year. Her dream school is calpoly (SLO or P) but it looks like it’s not going to happen. Has anyone heard of being waitlisted then accepted into CPP? What do,you think is her chance of being accepted after being waitlisted?
If you do a search within this site you will see old threads from 2011 and forward where people say they were accepted off the waitlist, sometimes well into April or beyond. There’s still hope I think.
@heckarad Thanks!! Good luck applying, I’m actually going to Washington state university and you should check them out they have a great program. Definetly do your research for schools, and if u know what kind of career you want, then talking to schools about personalizing a program is sooo helpful

note: i failed AP English 1st semester junior year but making it up online through a UC/CSU approved course through BYU Teacher led.
My App status says ready for decision. I’m just nervous… My boyfriend already got in and he was accepted in January. He had a 4.3 GPA and got a 1830 on the SAT. He got in as a chemical engineering major. Just really want to go and hope someone can clear some things up… Ive been considering CC and transfering to UCSD or Cal Poly Slo.
My son (first time freshman) was just accepted. He was originally waitlisted. "Congratulations! You have been admitted to Cal Poly Pomona for Fall Quarter 2015 as a(n) Geology major. He is so excited ! 3.92 GPA, 21 ACT So there is hope for those on the waitlist.
@rmharvey so let me get this straight, your first time freshman son was waitlisted and already accepted, while a bunch of others like myself who are first time freshman haven’t heard anything new since December? there goes all my hope haha. wonder what is going on over there.
@Gedelaine He received on March 27th this email “Thank you for the opportunity to review your application for admission to Cal Poly Pomona for Fall Quarter 2015. After careful evaluation of your application, we regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission at the present time. However, your academic background and potential for success at Cal Poly Pomona qualified you for a place on our waitlist. This is significant, as you could still be offered admission, should space in our Fall Quarter 2015 class become available.”
Then today received the Congrats email. I speculate space opened up because people are confirming where they will go. But there is hope Sorry you haven’t heard anything. He applied Oct 23rd there.

@Gedelaine I would assume that every department works with admissions and that’s how decisions are made.
