@robgab I think it’s by phone call and/or Fedex, if you are admitted.
Anyone find out anything yet? Still waiting… [-O<
Nothing yet… I spoke to the office of undergraduate admissions today and was told that ALL decisions, whether good or bad, are sent out (via fedex- acceptance package OR ups- rejection) during the first week of May. I submitted my “New Student Scholarship Application” online via the Columbia GS website and was prompted to a screen which said… “Thank you for your submission! Scholarship decisions are made once you have been admitted to the School of General Studies. Please review the Financial Aid information that is included in your acceptance packet.” Note that the last line mentions an acceptance packet. Could this be an inclination of an acceptance or did everyone see this ?? Looking forward to hearing back from anybody who can shed some light on this. Thank you
I got in. Was emailed about an hour ago and told to log in to see my admissions status. Woohoo! Guess I’ll get a hard package in the mail this week.
@sosodeformed what were your stats?
I got in! I’m moving to NYC from Toronto. Anyone else from Canada?
@Kenram401 3.92 GPA, two years community college for Broadcast Media, graduated high school in 2000 with 2.7 gpa, shit SAT scores (something like 620/500/520), but very strong essay. Film Studies major, made sure to talk about how living in NYC helped me grow creatively and I specifically talked about a professor in film at Columbia who I’d love to work with. Great recs too I guess? Linked to a short documentary I did as well.
@sosodeformed My GPA is a 3.23 and I got a 1.16 in high school. I am scheduled to take the GSAE on June 5th. How good do you think my chances are?
@Kenram401 - I might be completely wrong, but I think if you can prove that you are a strong applicant, GS will consider you as a candidate. If you can write a stellar, truthful essay and get two amazing letters of reference, then you might be in good shape. Like you, my high school GPA was low. I turned my life around after I enlisted in the Army. I am probably in the same boat that you are in with fear of the unknown as far as whether or not I will see a package of acceptance or a letter of rejection. I must say that I am worried about not being accepted since during the course of my pregnancy I had to withdraw from 2 classes, which conflicted with the timing of my doctor’s appointments.
@Brijul What is your GPA now?
I got to know an Alumni of the university but I don’t know how I can mention it to them now after I have already turned in my application.
