Tomorrow the portal opens. I can’t find out if there is a time like midnight, 8:00, etc?
The day of finding out acceptance was a nightmare, hopefully this will not be. If anyone has found out a time pleas post.
I have heard that it is 9:00 am, from several people, however, it does not give a time on the website. I will be right there with you, hoping that this process is not a nightmare.
Yeah, it’s opening tomorrow at 9AM. I just received an email from FSU a couple minutes ago, and it said that the housing contract opens Wednesday Jan. 20 at 9AM eastern time.
The opening time sucks… I’ll be in school tomorrow… such a disadvantage to many of us -_-
Got in 9:03 finished 9:16… Number in the 700’s…hope that’s good!
So my daughter applied for regular decision due out on 3/16 (I am pretty confident see will get in no problem). Does anyone know how much of a disadvantage that is for selecting housing? I am assuming decisions don’t come out before 3/16.
I am pretty sure that you can do a housing contract if you are certain she wants to go there. If she ends up not going, you will lose $50 of your $225 deposit. But you can do the contract before you pay the admission fee. You should probably do that if you are sure she wants to go. I know we have already lost a $25 fee to UF, that is their fee to guarantee you on the list for housing (not even a solid promise that you will GET housing, just that you get on the list), and my daughter has already decided that even if she is accepted to UF, she wants to go to FSU, so we went ahead and paid the $225, and the admission fee. I’m wishing we had not paid that $25 fee, which is non-refundable. Many people don’t agree with that $25 non-refundable fee and say that they make quite a bit of money from all of the people that pay that and then end up not going there. Still, I would pay the $225 and do a housing contract for FSU if you are sure she wants to go there. She should have a temporary ID if she has already applied, I think that is all you have to have to do a contract.
I thought that it said that you can only fill out the housing application if you have been accepted. Somehow it knows from your ID number whether you have been or not. If you haven’t been accepted, my guess is that you cannot apply for housing.
As far as I can tell, that is correct, if you are not admitted you can’t reserve a space in housing. It wouldn’t be a problem so much as I am getting the sense that housing availability/quality is an issue for Freshmen. If someone could give their experience to contradict this theory it would help with the uneasy feeling of having to choose from cold leftovers. If the EA deadline was 11/01 instead of 10/15 my daughter would made that deadline. Now she is starting to come around that FSU has risen to the top of her list, but housing is a big factor.
Correct, you have to be admitted in order to be able to apply for housing.
It’s one of the many reasons that FSU urges everyone to apply for the December decision date. Having to wait until mid-to-late March really limits your housing options because you will get a very bad priority number. You should still be able to get housing at that point but you will likely end up in Salley, or you will want to apply for an LLC (Living Learning Community) in order to get a “good” housing spot- but keep in mind that it comes with stipulations that you have to take certain courses and such to live in one of the LLC spots.
Granted, FSU Housing’s 2016-17 plans for Housing seem to be in flux a bit. The last timeline I heard had Smith Hall being demolished at the end of the decade and now they’re supposed to be tearing that down in approximately a year.
My daughter is pre-nursing, she’s in the top 25% profile of an FSU student (if that matters), so I think that would qualify her for Wildwood. Do they use the same “place in line” system for LLC housing as with regular housing? Does anyone know how tough it is to get into the LLC, are there way more applicants than spots?
I read on FSU’s site that it is based only on the essays and information provided on the LLC application. They do not take into consideration your GPA, test scores, or housing number.
