Fall 2017 Transfer to UC Berkeley Engineering Math/Statistics chance?

CCC to UC transfer
UC Transferable GPA: 3.68/4.0
ECs: 10/10 I don’t want to list them for privacy sake but they are perfect.
Personal Statement: 10/10 Same as ECs. Privacy reasons.

I had a grade dip during a semester due to family circumstances which is what brought my GPA down to that level. I’ve explained it in my application. Is my GPA a death sentence? Should I just give up on Berkeley all together?

Unfortunately, engineering math/statistics is not listed for 2015, probably because it is a very small major. However, it looks like your 3.68 GPA is around the 25th percentile or below for all other engineering majors, L&S math, and L&S statistics. That does not make admission impossible, but probably makes it a reach.

Hi,

Thanks for your input.

But apply anyway. You never know. It’s worth the extra $$ and all you have to do is check an additional box.

If you’re lower income you can possibly get all your app fees waived anyway.

My boyfriend transferred in for ME in Fall 2015. Technically his transfer GPA was 3.68, however he had many classes from several years prior when he was attempting a sociology degree that factored into that. When he returned to school to do the engineering transfer courses, he maintained a 3.89 GPA. He has kept up his GPA at Berkeley and is in honors society/doing honors research. I definitely think you should apply, but the more B’s you have in your technical classes the worse your odds are.
