Fall 2018 Applied/Accepted Thread!

@vp2019 What is your gpa? I am on the waitlist for architecture as well

@vp2019 thank you for replying

Hey so I applied to transfer into psychology and I still haven’t gotten an answer… should I be worried?):

@K1w1B1rd We don’t have GPA’s my school.

Will accepting SJSU admission jeopardize the wait list option for CALpoly Pomona? Anyone has any thoughts? Will calpoly remove the student out of waitlist if committed to SJSU?

@IamfromLA: No accepting SJSU will not jeopardize your chances on the waitlist. All schools know that students need to SIR to another school until they hear if they are admitted or not from the waitlist.

Thank you

guys i got off the waitlist for chem

Congrats!

My son comitted to SJSU yesterday evening and paid the deposit for undeclared major … but after an hour he got the offer in calpoly pomona for comp engg

@IamfromLA be happy that is all you paid! We had paid housing deposit, Enrollment deposit and then orientation on Thurs all non-refundable. But to know my son will be going to his dream school it means nothing to me! Best mothers day gift for me that he got in his dream school.

@Bean981 is your son going to calpoly pomona too?

@IamfromLA yes he is going to SIR tomorrow I believe and do his housing and orientation sign up. Then see what things need to be ordered as far as test scores and transcripts.

Hi, I just got out of the waitinglist and am now provisionally admitted to Cal Poly Pomona in the Civil Engineering major, but I havent gotten any information about my gift aid, does anyone know if I will even get a gift aid or will I not get one because I got stuck on the wait list? , also if my EFC is 0 will it cover my dorm fee? lastly if i do get a gift aid when will I find out? because I have till 05/25/18 to deside if I will go to Cal Poly Pomona, this is not enough time.

Major: Civil Engineering
GPA: 3.9
SAT:1020

@civilengineerg my son got off on Friday. He did his ECD on sunday (yesterday) his financial aid came today for zero but I’m calling to see as normally they still offer loans regardless of EFC. So not sure if they are a few days behind for those coming off of the waitlist. Congrats on getting in. That was my son’s first choice and he found out Friday.

@Bean981 definitely give them a call, you made sure to list CPP on your fafsa right? Also if your son is/will be graduating from a California High School and has a 3.0+ (which i assume is true for both) then he should be eligible for a Cal Grant A or B. Make sure you make an account on webgrants (google “webgrants” and it should be the first link on google) and change/set your school for Cal Poly Pomona. Its been a few years since I’ve graduated but at least during my senior year we were required to submit a Cal Grant GPA verification form.

@Bean981 Also forgot to mention they’re probably still processing your file so I’d imagine it’d be updated soon. At least in my case when I accepted the offer and such it took a few weeks before I got my FA Package.

Thanks @zygole I just called today to check since we have much less time to accept (2 weeks) and they said they just got notified yesterday so that is why the bare minimum was posted and probably today we should see a change with the actual award tomorrow at the latest so keep checking. @Civilengineerg that should probably apply to you also.

@Bean981 I have been reading this thread for a while because my son got into CPP for Aero Eng back in Feb. We are still pretty bombed out that he didn’t get into any top tier UC for Engineering (except for UCR Mech E and UCSD as an undeclared which was too much risk going into not knowing if he can get into Mech Eng after a year or two). CPP was actually on his list as the last resort/safety school and it just came down to a choice between UCR and CPP which he picked CPP. However, I am still trying to get over the grief (for the lack of a better term) of my son not going to a UC and ending up in CPP. You say it is your son’s first choice. Is CPP that good? I know all about the practical/hands on approach vs. the more theoretical method of UCs. But I just think of CPP as a fancy trade school that spits out workers without giving the students proper knowledge and background to go further in their studies for graduate degrees. Am I wrong?
