Family benefits at Shands?

So my sister will be working at Shands at uf as a nurse in the Er department as she studies to become a nurse practitioner. If I decide to pursue premed, will this provide me with any tangible benefits?

It all depends on your sister. She could give you a boost and speak well to the supervisors about you if you decide to apply for a volunteer position or internship at Shands. She could put you in contact with the doctors that work at Shands so you can ask them questions. But that’s pretty much it. If you want to be pre-med, then don’t focus on your sister. Focus on YOU. Your chances of going to med school are dependent on how hard you work, not what strings your sister can pull for you.

There is no benefit to having your sister work in the ER. The selection process is straight forward with scores and academic record paramount.
