family business

I am going to university in America in a top 20 school, and will be seeking internships for this fall/next summer. My family has a decent sized business in a developing country. I interned there in previous summers. I am now seeking internships at American management consultancies such as Mckinsey and Bain.

Should I state on the resume that what previous internships I did were at my family's company or just "a company"? If I mention that I got the internships because of my family, would they think it's just nepotism and I don't have much to offer?

On the other hand, if I don't mention it, would they find it strange that some random company would take an intern and put him in important positions?

I think you should just stated that you work for your family business. I think it doesn’t matter. That is still a job! :)
