Family Weekend - Sept 27-29

<p>Current parents received an email today from Patricia M. Lampkin, Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer, with the following information regarding Family Weekend. It is helpful information for parents of the Class of 2017, our incoming first-year families.</p>

The University has finalized the fall 2013 calendar, and Family Weekend has been scheduled for the last weekend in September. Parents and family members are encouraged to make hotel reservations early. A list of local accommodations is available on the parent handbook website.

<p>Also to note is Fall Reading Days is October 12-15.</p>

<p>“Reading Days” is UVa terminology for the Fall Break.</p>

<p>Yes, Reading Days are the days the students do not have regular class in October prior to mid-terms to study. Many take advantage of this time to go home for an extended weekend. You’ll also see the term used in December and May, after last class as any day finals are not scheduled. Essentially a study day.</p>
