In the section where you choose to live off/on campus what are you putting? there are a few schools that I would want to live on campus but what if I can't get into on campus housing right away and need to live off campus for a bit? Would I get money from financial aid or would the school get it?

Well, if you want to live on campus you can check the particular UCs you are thinking of to see if housing is guaranteed for transfer students.

If I go to UCSB and want to live in the apartments right there for FAFSA pursoses would that be “on campus”??

@Matt4200 i had looked that up earlier and read some schools consider apartments “off campus” call and ask UCSB to make sure though.

“On campus” usually means school owned or operated housing. But check with each campus to be sure what exactly counts as on or off campus. In some cases, school owned or operated apartments may be classified as “off campus” for financial aid budget purposes.

Check the cost of attendance and net price calculator pages of each campus to see if there is any difference in budget and financial aid for on or off campus housing. Note that financial aid budgets tend to be weighted averages of each type; some housing within each type may be more expensive, and others may be less expensive.
