hello, my parents filed there 2018 taxes but not the 2019 and im trying to do my fafsa but I dont know if they will ask me for my taxes they said just to fill the application without putting my parents information but someone els told me if i did that, that fafsa would ask me for verification of my parents taxes. can anyone help me?
Did your parents earn enough money that they were required to file taxes? If so, you should encourage them to do so before you file your FAFSA. If they report income that is high enough to require filing a tax return, your FAFSA will be selected for verification. Once that happens, you won’t get aid unless they file (and provide proof of filing) a tax return. If they didn’t earn enough that they were required to file a tax return, it’s possible that your FAFSA will be selected for verification, but if they really weren’t required to file a tax return, it won’t be an issue.
i think they earned about 23k so i think they are required but didnot do there taxes for the 2019 year
