My daughter is a high school senior considering Westphal College at Drexel. Her interest is some aspect of the fashion industry NOT design, likely marketing/merchandising. Would appreciate comment from anyone in fashion merchandising about his/her view of the program. Also any info as to what sort of reputation/prestige Westphal has in the fashion industry, esp compared to other places like FIT and FIDM that are more well known on the West Coast where we are located. Thanks.

Hi guzzibob!
Well I am sort of in the same boat as your daughter being that I am a senior in high school considering both Drexel and FIT for fashion merchandising. This summer I took a precollege program and Drexel for their Design & Merchandising program. I really loved it except I was a little turned off on all of the “art” based things we had to do, being that the major is called “design & merchandising” whereas FIT’s major is strictly Fashion Merchandising Management. My top choice as of now is FIT, Drexel is a great school just seems that it is not well known enough, and that is what fashion is all about. Fashion is in New York City, NYC IS fashion! Thats what I have concluded over the past 6 months! haha hope this helps a little bit!

Trying again, looking for input from current Drexel students about the Fashion Merchandising program there. Program looks very inclusive, very flexible. What about the faculty? Any commments as to their quality, & the program in general?

I know you posted this a long time ago, but wondering what your daughter decided and where she ended up. I’m in the same place you were 5 years ago. My daughter is looking at FIT, Kent State, Delaware and VCU. We live in Virginia so trying to stay on East Coast.
