I don't think many of mine are going to be well-known, but here it goes: Susan Carroll, Libba Bray, Jane Austen, Gail Carson Levine, JK Rowling, Sarah Dunant, Dan Brown

This may seem like an out-of-the-ordinary response, but I adore Nick Hornby and his writing style. I randomly picked up High Fidelity one day about 5 years ago and, I swear, the way he writes resembles the thoughts that go through my head. About a Boy and How to Be Good were excellent, as well.

Unfortunately, Broadway butchered High Fidelity. I was devastated when I walked out of the theatre. So, thank God it closed.

Margaret Atwood
Aldous Huxley
George Orwell

...catch my drift?

Kurt Vonnegut

J.K. Rowling (Of course...I'm absolutely obsessed with HP), J.R.R. Tolkien, Johan von Geothe (Faust is amazing)...other than that, I usually just go by individual books I like, not just authors. Just like with music, I like individual songs but I don't really care who sings them.

JK Rowling :D, Dan Brown, Friedrich Nietzsche, Zora Neale Hurston, Tim OBrien, Kate Chopin, Joseph Heller, and Edgar Allen Poe.
