Favorite Book(s)

Love these classics: 1984, animal farm, Frankenstein, the scarlet letter
These others: Dune, the uglies series, graceling
And these weird ones: blink and outliers by Malcolm gladwell, The quantum universe by brian cox ( I’m a total science geek)

1984, then brave new world after… Same common theme, totally different setting

Fine, in the fiction world:
1984 and Hamlet

Most of the rest of the novels are complete junk that get sparknoted to death so I can spend it reading about electricity and magnetism instead :)

American Gods, Ender’s Game, Dune, East of Eden, lots of fantasy series (WoT, ASOIAF, etc)

@TheGreatCatsby I thought the same about Paper Towns as well! My John Green order would probably be: Paper Towns, Looking For Alaska, WG WG (which I only finished yesterday), TFIOS, An Abundance of Katherines :)

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver is brilliant. I always forget about it when asked this question though :D

Gone series by Michael Grant
Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card
Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling
Shogun by James Clavell
Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins
The King Must Die by Mary Renault
Lord of the Flies by William Golding

And my favorite…Les Mis

Ender’s Game and sequels(especially Ender’s Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, and Speaker for the Dead) are my favorite books in the entire world.

I also love Les Mis, Artemis Fowl, anything by Shakespeare, Rick Riordan, or Charles Dickens.

There are so many books, I can’t even list them. I’d have to say my favorite classic is To Kill a Mockingbird. (Or The Book Thief… but that was published in like 2006, so I don’t think it’s technically a classic.)
I’m reading Unravel Me right now, though.

The Book Thief and I am the Messenger by Markus Zusak
any book by John Green (specifically The Fault in Our Stars though)
Every Day by David Levithan
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Still Alice and Left Neglected by Lisa Genova
Bel Canto

The Hunger Games, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Giver, Divergent, The Fault in Our Stars, Looking for Alaska. Maybe some more that I’ve forgotten.

So many John Green fans! Are any of you nerdfighters?

I love anything by Sebastian Faulks.

The Mortal Instruments series is fantastic for anyone who enjoys reading fantasy :). I’ve always had the problem of never being able to read a classic through without finding myself incredibly bored. I wish I could, but my brain just won’t let me! 1984 is really interesting so far, though.

As far as books I’ve read in school my favorites have been To Kill a Mocking Bird, Fahrenheit 451, The Kite Runner, Like Water for Chocolate, Animal Farm, and The Things They Carried.
Other books I love are the Harry Potter Series, The Hunger Games, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Gossip Girl Series, Pretty Little Liars Series, The Lying Game series, Wintergirls, I have so many favorites!

It seems like a number of goods have been listed, like my favorite fiction novels! I guess some things I would add would be Huck Finn (Mark Twain, duh) and The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott. Books from middle school I remember fondly were the Charlie Bone series and Redwall series. Longest book that I have read was Anathem. It is considered “Speculative fiction”, which is sort of like Sci-Fy, and I enjoyed it. “Large portions of the book involve detailed discussions of mathematics, physics, and philosophy. Most of these discussions use fictional terminology, but treat ideas from actual science and philosophy.”, which some of you may enjoy.

Others have already said The Great Gatsby, but I love it too.
A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Catcher in the Rye, A Separate Peace, Freakonomics, What’s the Matter With Kansas? (spoiler: a lot) and The Book Thief are all very good.

And I’m not gonna lie, The American Pageant, my APUSH book, is pretty great too.

I really like fantasy books. My favorite series (I’m currently waiting impatiently for the final book to come out) has to be The Kingkiller Chronicles.

I’ve never really appreciated classics such as Gatsby and TKAM, perhaps because I’m forced to read them. Unfortunately, I only read two types of books: 1) fantasy and 2) mandatory school.

Easily my favorite; Quiet, the power of introverts in a world that can’t stop talking by Susan Cain

The Book Thief, The Time Traveler’s Wife, Harry Potter series, The Great Gatsby, The Virgin Suicides, Catcher in the Rye, anything by John Green…the list could go on for a while.

Just to name a few…

The bible
The Catcher in the rye
The strange case of dr. Jekyll and mr. Hyde
The first tycoon: Cornelius Vanderbilt
Marley and me
Titan: John Rockefeller
The origin of species
The last lecture
Life of pi
The boy in the striped pyjamas
A separate peace
