<p>I adored Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, Great Gatsby and 1984-- especially 1984! Orwell is one of my heroes. I devour his essays. They're like candy. No-- no, they're like dark chocolate, rich and bitter and sheer perfection.</p>
<p>And this sort of counts, since I read it for a report three years ago: Lolita. After that, I was hooked. Nabokov is simply brilliant, so of course Pale Fire followed...then Ada, then Invitation to a Beheading, then all his short stories, Despair, the Defense-- and I'm still reading, man. Mmmm, Nabokov. Lawrence Durrell's Alexandria Quartet, too.</p>
