I have a Fluffernuter sandwich every other week or so.
English muffin pizzas were a staple in our house during my childhood.
I still have the occasional dalliance with Hostess Snowballs.

The one Hostess product not yet mentioned - Suzy Qs! I liked these best and then the cupcakes. My school lunches consisted of a half sandwich with white bread, a small bag of chips and usually a Hostess dessert. I did a better job with my own kidsâ lunches.
I loved (and still am addicted to) Layâs (or Jayâs) potato chips.
Celery with peanut butter
Apple with peanut butter
Little Debbies Nutter Butter bars
Big Batch chocolate chip cookies (does this even exist anymore?)
Surfcity were you from Philly by any chance?
We lived near the Tastykake factory and could smell them when we drove by
I am old enough that the small town I grew up in still had âcorner grocery storesâ when I was growing up. On weekends/summer days my friends and I would walk âdowntownâ to the library, cruise a few shops and stop at the dairy bar. My favorite was a cherry coke. On the way back we stopped at a corner store for candy.
I also loved the A & W Root Beer stand - I still love a root beer float!
My version of that with my friends was walk downtown, hit up the library then go to Kresgeâs browse the store and then get a Sprite and a order of hot crispy fries and ketchup to share with a friend. We did that all summer long!
BINGO! Not sure how far Tastykakes have spread. That and mentioning Wawa out me as a Philly area native.
We have a Patâs Cheesesteak here in Denver and they bring in Tastykakes.
Another favorite treat was Jiffypop if we had a babysitter on Friday nights and we almost always had a babysitter on Friday nights if we werenât at my grandparents. Obviously long before microwaves.
@surfcity, That and the soft pretzels with mustard. I know other places besides Philly have soft pretzels, but not sure how many slather yellow mustard on them.
I have a memory of being about 8 and we were visiting my aunt and uncle in New Jersey. They took us to some shore town and yep, got a big pretzel slathered with mustard. I remember LOVING it!
During Girl Scout cookie season, my favorite snack was Trefoils and a glass of milk.
Sâmores are very popular in my area and are sold out. I can tell that the Girl Scouts are tired of the question, âDo you have Sâmores?â
Trefoils are still my favorite Girl Scout cookie, although we donât buy them anymore because the GS we knew aged out years ago.
Great thread. Another Twinkies fan and also liked Hostess cherry pie and Ruffles potato chips.
Iâm remembering another treat my brother and I loved â warm chocolate pudding. Loved trying to spoon the skin off the top in once piece.
The Swiss Rolls I bought everyday at lunch were not chocolate covered, however that is the only way I can find them now. I wonder if I am not remembering correctly.
I loved the Pepperidge Farm coconut cake. I bought one around Christmas time, and it didnât taste how I remembered. However their turnovers are still delicious.
The Girl Scouts use different two bakeries. The Samoas (sounds like Sâmores) are called Caramel dâLites for one of the bakeries.
I misread the Sâmores. Chocolate covered graham with marshmallow? They discontinued that cookie!
I remember in college someone talking about Spagetti-Os and we all said we remember liking them as a kid but hadnât had them in years. We went out and bought a couple cans. We each agreed they tasted horrible and only had a spoonful or two to confirm. I think often times there are memories that are better than reality.
I saw a recipe for homemade spaghettios the other day. :).
My brother who now is an adventurous cook and food consumer adored spaghettios when he was growing up. He is 9 years younger than me and I never got the attraction!
Iâve only known Swiss cake rolls as chocolate covered!
Yes, and my mom would give us a spoon of Cool Whip (the whipped cream of the age then) on top of that warm pudding and it would melt inâŠ.
I swear they changed the sauce recipe in those spaghettios! I loved them as a kidâŠnot at all now.
Also think the recipes for Campbell soups changedâŠused to like vegetarian vegetable (the ABC soup) and chicken rice. Not as good now, in my opinion.
