Favorite Women's college

Wellesley!

My dream school =)

I like Wesleyan College (GA), mostly because Im talking about gettin receuited for soccer and basketball there! And SBC, Hollins, and Meredith are really nice too!!!

I really want to get into Smith STRIDE! Or basically, I just want to go somewhere I can start research right away…

St. Catherine university, saint paul, minnesota!

:-)

Mine fav is BBK DAV College

I have to nominate Columbia College, in Columbia, SC. A women’s college for 160 years, our mascot is the Fighting Koalas (yes, we recognize the irony).

Barnard then Smith.

Hi! I realize that this thread is not for chancing, but I was hoping that any current students or alumna of any of these incredible womens’ colleges could give me some advice. I’d like to know if I had a chance to get into eny of these colleges.

I am a senior and am expecting my cumulative unweighted gpa to be 3.3. I realize it is low, but due to personal circumstances (severe anxiety and frequent panic attacks) I did not work as hard during my junior year. Also, my ACT score is a 28 and my SAT score is 1900, but I plan on retaking it in October and scoring at least 30. I have a wide array of extracurriculars and I’m a strong writer so I am positive that my essay will be good. Oh, I am also taking all AP classes this year, and am independently taking AP Psychology and plan on doing well on the exam. Please let me know of your opinions! Thanks!

@Vee100196- You said yourself this is not a chance thread. Post this in the appropriate forum. Also, you didn’t specify which schools- everything from Bryn Mawr to Spelman has been mentioned on this thread.

Migrane, this was my first ever post on CC and I am not accustomed to any of CC’s “netiquette.” My apologies.

Barnard
Spelman
Scripps
Bryn Mawr
Smith
Wellesley

Does Not Get It.

Vee100, I think your chances of getting into any of the Seven Sisters schools (Wellesley, Barnard, Smith, MHC, Bryn Mawr) are very low. I can’t speak to the others (Scripps, Agnes Scott, Sweet Briar, et al.)

Mills College (Oakland, CA - SF Bay Area)
Simmons College (Boston)
St. Catherine University (St. Paul)

I have to say Barnard, as I went there a zillion years ago. I loved the relationship with Columbia, yet the attention students get from a small LAC is also a plus. Barnard is also the most selective women’s college in the country and becoming more and more selective each year, so they must be doing something right!

I also like Smith. I went to their spring fling one year (I had a friend who went there) and had a great time.

easily barnard, hands down. i can’t imagine any college town better than manhattan. the campus is small but so pretty. plus, it’s across from columbia and you can take classes there and use all its resources, but, like the above poster said, you get the close comfort of a LAC. a women’s college with those connections—best of both worlds. also, the nine ways of knowing + amazing financial aid. it’s my dream school, and if i get in, my life will be made.

I was at Smith for STRIDE  it’s an awesome place to be, just find the right people to network with and you’ll have a rewarding experience :)

Wellesley, Smith, Barnard !

Wellesley.

BRYN MAWR! Mainly because I just found out I got accepted there and I’ll be going next year :)

Bryn mawr, because I love the campus, traditions, and consortium. I like wellesley, but mainly for the alumnae network and the prestige which its gotten from its alumnae. scripps is also a beautiful campus, but it doesnt have the traditions and history that the 7 sisters have, and the claremonts across the street kinda make it less like a womens college.
