featured in a movie

This school is about to be featured in a major film - blue like jazz. it shows a lot about the school - dorms, parties, classes, dining. worth seeing if you are thinking about attending. made me consider the school.

Cool.
Feast of love starring Morgan Freeman & Into the Wild with Emile Hirsch also were filmed at Reed. (for into the wild, mostly the college graduation scene.)

That’s because the book that inspired the movie is about a man’s search for God in the face of Reed’s infamous godlessness (not totally sure that’s the main plot though). The author audited classes here some time ago :)

EDIT: BLJ wasn’t filmed at Reed, so you know.

Where did you see the movie OP? I didn’t think iy was out yet.

Also filmed at Reed, The Possessed (made-for-TV, 1977) and First Love (1977).

EDIT Matt’s edit: BLJ was MOSTLY not filmed at Reed, but a few scenes were (camera crews there last spring). I think it was mostly filmed at Vanderbilt. Anyway, I’d take their presentation of Reed with a grain of salt, esp anything Renn Fayre related (c’mon can that be recreated?).

@racheljps Ah, thanks for clarifying.

actually Blue Like Jazz isn’t really a major film. it’s more of a small indie movie. but yeah that’s irrelevant to the topic, i get it.

and I think it makes a lot of sense that Sean Penn (or whoever) chose Reed as a location for Into The Wild.

Great film!! I saw it with my friends and afterword I said “Man, I wish I applied to Reed!!” They said I would have died there haha. Like the main character, I’m sheltered in a way.
