Hello everyone,

I am apply for GMSP and it says I need to qualify for the Federal Pell Grant. Can some tell me the requirements. My mother's income is less than 10k and the FASFA Forecaster states that my EFC is 0

It sounds very likely. This is a google question

[Let me google that for you](<a href=“LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You”>LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You)

Is that your mom’s total income from all sources? If she receives spousal or child support, that would also be included as income. Is this your mom’s total income…or is this after deductions, or other allowable tax expenses? Is your mom self employed?

If she has NO other income, then yes…you would likely be Pell eligible.

So as long as my EFC is 0 and my income is less then 50k then I would be eligible to get the Pell Grant?

If your parent income is $50,000, your EFC would NOT be $0.

If I’m not mistaken, the auto $0 RFC is for a parent income less than $30,000 a year. Someone here will correct me if I am incorrect.

So what’s the EFC cut off for Pell Grant. I heard that it is $5000. Is that correct?

Pell grant cut off is around 5000EFC (not sure the exact cut off nowadays.

No. Where did you get that from? EFC is based on income. An income of $50k would not necessarily make you Pell eligible. (probably not unless their are more than 2 in college - a $50k income would give an EFC more in the 6-7000 range, too high for Pell).

I am apply for GMSP a

Are you an int’l? Or are you a citizen or green card holder?

I am a citizen. $50k is not by actual income, I just wanted to know if a person could get it with that hypothetical income.

It used to be around $30k, then they dropped it to @ $23k a couple of years ago. That is for auto 0. An income slightly higher could still qualify for a low or even 0 EFC, just not automatically (where assets and other income are ignored).

Thanks everyone for replying. I was so confused.
