Fee for FAFSA and re-submitting it and Profile

First time FAFSA-filler-outer here.

Is there a fee for submitting FAFSA (I know that it stands for free application for federal student aid, but that never stopped the gov't for charging $ for things).

So if there is a fee, then do we end up paying twice when submitting it with estimates and then going back and updating it with the real data?

Also, we have submitted PROFILE to 2 colleges D applied EA at. I realized I put some incorrect numbers on it. Can I update it and re-submit and then will I have to pay again?

There is no fee for FAFSA.

If the FAFSA site asks for a fee you are at the wrong site. Make sure it is the ed.gov site, not the.com site.

I don’t believe you can update profile online. According to what I have read on CC, you have to send corrections to the individual schools.

The FAFSA site can be accessed now with just “.gov” - although “.ed.gov” will also work. NEVER a charge for FAFSA.

Profile will charge you once (per school, I think) - but all updates are made directly through the individual schools as there is no way to update a Profile the way you can update the FAFSA.
