fee waiver - worth it?

I know that financial aid is very impt and most will not affect college admissions... but what about fee waivers? My family isn't doing well enough to pay the full college tuition ... but they can still afford to pay the college app... so should I apply for a fee waiver?

The fee waivers are for students who are really poor, such as students who qualify for free or reduced lunches and whose expected financial contributions of close to 0 when they use financial aid calculators.

Probably most college applicants can't afford to pay full tuition out of pocket. Most take loans and get scholarships when it comes to applying to the most expensive colleges. Your parents not being able to afford to pay for your college without scholarships doesn't mean you qualify for fee waivers.

Keep in mind that, in many cases, you don't even need a fee waiver. There's a list of colleges offering free on-line applications at http://www.porcelina.net/freeapps/ . I think it's pretty close to being a complete list, but I am sure there are others out there. And some colleges will send you waivers just for signing up for their mailing list.
