I have been trying to find the feeder schools for Lakeside Seattle but unable to find a definitive list. How to get this information? New to Seattle, so don’t have too much knowledge about the area. Kid will be in 5th grade this Fall. Thanks much for any insight you can provide.
toast12. I’m not certain that there are true feeder schools for Lakeside, though I am sure Lakeside is aware some local school are better (however that may be defined) than others. I would suggest they are looking for highly capable students from all over Seattle. My child was accepted to Lakeside from a local public school. I’m sure many were accepted from local private schools. Lakeside accepts more students for 6th and 9th grade -----likely a higher chance of getting in at those entrance points. Your child will presumably need excellent qualifications to get in (top grades, 90%+ SSAT, great recommendations, etc.). I don’t think there is any magic formula or particular feeder schools that will give you a better chance. Lakeside can curate the type of student body they choose, as they don’t have major financial pressures. I would guess they are looking for nice kids who are a good fit for their high achieving environment. They will want their student body to somewhat mirror the real world, in terms of diversity, both ethnic and socioeconomically. My family is not well connected in any way. We know no one in the Lakeside community and have no sort of legacy connection. Clearly there is room at the school for kids not from a privileged background. I think our child got in because her application showed her to be qualified, and her ECs and recommendations indicated she was the type of student Lakeside was looking for. There was probably a bit of luck involved as well. I hope things work out well for you!
Thank you so much @DuckDuk . Appreciate your suggestions
Did you get more information on this? My student is in 3rd grade now and we are planning to apply to lakeside this fall for the next session of 5th grade. Have your student applied to Lakeside? How was your experience?
Your best bets to “feed” into Lakeside might be overlake or eastside prep, though there really isn’t that much of a school bias.
