I am looking for a summer camp that offers both academic courses and fencing for a 14 year old. He went to a SIG Camp last summer and would like to try a more academically challenging camp this summer. A CTY or college-run program that allows kids to take fencing and academics would be ideal.

That is probably a pretty tall order (I have a kid who fences, and haven’t heard of such a camp). It probably makes a lot more sense to just have him do two different camps. Our local fencing club runs a couple of week long day camps in the summer, and my kid has done that and also gone away to a couple of more academic oriented camps. Good luck, but I would start exploring separate options.

Never heard of a camp that combines those two activities. DS did the summer fencing but we never came across the combo of academics and fencing together.

Thanks. I agree that its a tall order. But SIG offered fencing along with academic courses last summer year. Why should they be the only one?

I would like to hear/read about the academic camps that your fencer has enjoyed going away to. Its hard to find the time to research all that are out there. My son could do without fencing if he had a good mix of courses in the humanities, writing, photography, theater, etc., and soccer or swimming opportunities.

Having no local fencing club here, I have considered sleep-away fencing camps, but doubt that my son would enjoy being in a fencing club type environment 24/7.
