Fencing worth

I've been fencing for roughly 6 years for 5 days a week, 5 hours a day with the United States Olympic coach, and my best results so far have been 2nd in Junior Olympics and Nationals last year, so it hasn't been a waste of time. However, as one can imagine, the time spent fencing really cut into my abilities to commit to other ECs and community service, which I know are oh-so-important for college admissions.

My aspirations point toward the better schools (Harvard, Stanford, etc.). I'm planning on moving toward a pre-med program.

Background info: Haven't taken SAT (unless you count the 7th grade one, got 2130) yet, 9 AP 5s, 4.596 GPA (steadily increasing)

Essentially, CC, my question is this: How much worth would an admissions officer put into fencing?

I think having a passion like that is really impressive. Being second best at any National Competition raises eyebrows. If colleges know that you’ve legit trained 5 days a week, 5 hours a day for the last 6 years, then obviously you don’t have time for other things. My question is, how on earth did you dedicate 5 hours each day after school?

As long as your SATs rise, which they naturally would, you should be competitive.

GPA then SAT then Fencing… Don’t worry about other ECs and community service… They will look at your fencing and see commitment, awards and likely leadership (top of your sport).

I know someone who got into Brown with a fencing EC.
