I will disagree. Financial aid is not an entitlement. Simply submitting a blank FAFSA because of illegal, non-taxpaying parents should not entitle one to federal aid. Were the parents legal and tax cheats they would not be accountable.
The school and FAFSA don’t care about the parents’ immigration status-- they are not Border Control. The school and FAFSA just want the tax return data if the parent was legally obligated to file a return.
I’m not sure I agree with your GC. You have an excellent GPA, but your standardized test score of 26 is average. You certainly will get accepted to SOME colleges, but saying you would,get accepted to almost any college is not accurate…at all.
Plus…you have the issue of paying for college.
Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with going to the CC and getting your associates in nursing,and then getting a job…and continuing on to get your BSN. It seems like that would be an option worthy of considering.
