Fin Aid Bargaining?

Pretty much all of my chances of attending Vandy were dashed today when I received my fin aid package of $0....I was wondering if anyone has had success bargaining with the fin aid office? Other colleges have offered me pretty large scholarships and I was hoping they could be used to get a better deal.

Prepare details that you feel may not have been covered on your FAFSA and CSS Profile fairly, and make your presentation as lucidly as possible. Give this to them now and ask for a review.

They will give you a fair review. You can also reapply annually if there are changes in your circumstances…ie a sibling starting a college.

But you have to realize that Vanderbilt’s waitlist looks pretty much like the admit list and they will be using the waitlist if you do not want to pay what they deem your fair share.

In my past experience, I’ve found that Vandy Fin Aid does not really respond to bargaining. However, I would definitely try it. The worst they can say is no.
