Fin Aid Household Definition?

<p>Good afternoon, a friend has asked me to post this. (We have yet to fill out our own FAFSA or Profile...).</p>

<p>The student in question is presently a junior. </p>

<p>Her parents are divorced, and she lives with Mom. In total in this household are Mom, Mom's significant other, and student's younger sibling. </p>

<p>Mom has not remarried, and she and SO are not on the same tax returns. </p>

<p>How is this handled for FAFSA purposes? SO has a very high income. Does he magically not appear?</p>

<p>If the Mom isn’t remarried, her significant other’s income and assets are not reported on FAFSA and he is not considered a household member (the mom isn’t providing for his support).</p>
