Final chance for USC!! Thank You!

Hyakku, what it seems you failed to do is read the common data set. Everyone here has an anecdote about someone with a 2.0/1100 who got into Harvard. A quick review of the school's CDS will quickly let you know how rare your friend is. I'm not surprised to see you have only 64 posts. You'll learn..

So suze, if you had to predict my % of getting into USC, what would it be?

Don't have enough info. Anyway, hasn't USC announced?.

Not yet.. If I don't hear back at the end of March, I didn't get in

I do think it's a real reach. There's also this quality in your cv that doesn't help--the 4 job thing including the last one that sounds so major. How does a HS kid do that?.

I'm an interpreter for a small electronic company in Suzhou, China, through email.. I travel back there every summer and manage to contact the company on a monthly/weekly base to help interpret some of the basic contracts. Many small companies in China (especially in the rural areas) are very desperate for anyone with slight hint of bilingual background in both Chinese and English.

As for the office assistant position at Kamo's Management company here in America.. I help to organize packets, type profits, and call guests to RSVP spots for conferences.

I'm sure my jobs are not too much for a HS kid to handle?

I'm not well off financially. I try the best I can to ease some pressure off my parents.

'Tis the best I can do without flipping burgers, you know, that typical job for teenagers.

Well I'm an American that has spent over a year in China and do some work for a company, but 4 jobs?.

it's really not bad.. 4 hrs each week for the chinese company, 15 hrs for Kamo's, YMCA childcare on friday nights, and dance instructor for Chinese school on Sunday's

I learned to live with not having a social life.

whats cv suze?

^^ I think Suze was questioning the validity of my resume

suze, referring back to another one of your posts that said he should ask me if he wants a nicer answer...I never actually replied to his chances question, nor did i disagree with your ideas, i just think that you said it in a mean way...

1300 old was the SAT average last year, up from the year before and significantly from 5 years ago. This year it will go up again.

The average was 1374 last year, not 1300. http://www.princetonreview.com/college/research/profiles/generalinfo.asp?listing=1023244&LTID=1

whoah those stats are high....

I know Suze posted a while ago, but WOW. your a jerk!!!!!!! stop acting like YOU know everything, cause obviously you dont know jack ****!!!!! Yes, you are right, most USC admitted students have high Stats but it does not mean a student's chances of being admitted are obliterated just cause they have mediocre scores. You are so negative and do you NOT REALIZE that the colleges do a "holistic review" hence the idea that they dont SOLELY look at GPA and SAT scores. And stressed0ut, do not worry, you have a good chance. Many students at my school last year had gotten in with a 3.5 and 1800 SAT scores. dont worry too much and dont let the pessimists like SUZE get to u. :) keep your head up

^^ thanks for the support Annakimwta, I couldn't have said it better myself..

Suze: I'm NOT trying to search for sympathy from CCers. I'm merely curious to see how people perceive my chances of getting into USC to be after viewing my COMPLETE profile. Yes, the basic stats are there, however, I do believe that colleges like USC care MORE about the conceptual skills developed by the kid than just his/her academic achievements.

Suze: Honestly, who the hell do you think you are? If you were a little more constructive with your words, then maybe I'd support your aspirations of "enlightening" everyone. But all you do is talk down on people. Has the anonymity of CC given you some strange, false sense of superiority? I bet you're nothing behind that alias of yours, and I'll bet criticizing other people only makes you feel better about your own flaws. Do you honestly think you're "helping" these people? I think it's YOU who needs a little disillusionment in life. And I hope you find it soon, because when your life amounts to criticizing people who haven't made it passed the "64 posts"-line, that's pretty pathetic. I'm sorry you feel that some new people, curious for some information, have disgraced your beloved site. If the new kids on here bother you so much, I suggest you find a life outside of CC; I'd hate to see you continue to live your life so bitterly. So if I ever make a post asking for some help, don't bother posting a reply; take your condescending, self-worshipping self elsewhere.

And to stressed0ut: go for it! (suze can take my "cheerleader" response, and shove it).

*LMAO!!!!!!!!!! *

I didn't know CC could this much fun! :D

i'm pretty sure a slow clap is in order here

Just to chime in for whoever asked, cv stands for curriculum vitae, which is the same thing as a resume.

And I don't think I agree with Suze completely. Your numerical stats definitely will hurt you, but your extracurriculars, especially your jobs and internships, are impressive. I'd estimate it as a slight reach. I'm not an expert, but I doubt Suze is either.

slight reach.. 40%? less?
