Final Chances, Low GPA + Upward Trend

<p>I'm a going to be a senior at a prep school in SE PA. I have some extenuating circumstances and my grades suffered until this year. I will address that in my college essay. Do I have a chance? My school doesnt rank. </p>

Sophomore: 2.66
Junior 3.53 (Current Cum 2.95)
Senior (So far) 3.6</p>

<p>ACT: 32</p>

<p>Recs: Excellent, Guidance counselor rec should be good citing extenuating circumstances.</p>

<p>Awards: 9th Grade Academic Achievement award in Programming, 10th grade JV hockey all star, JV hockey coaches award</p>

<p>I Went on service trip with Augustinian volunteers to South Africa</p>

<p>Leadership: Head of Programming robotics team, Senior captain of Varsity Ice Hockey team.</p>

<p>ECs: FIRST Robotics, academic competition, March for Life club, varsity ice hockey, Theatre Society, stock market club, intramural soccer and basketball, Club ice hockey, eBay powerseller, jv lacrosse, and 250+ hours of community service.</p>

<p>I think all those are doable because of the high ACT and if you expressed in your essay why you had academic problems then admissions should put that into consideration. I do not think you have a problem with any of those schools as long as you keep up good grades your senior year. </p>

<p>Go for BC! Is your school Catholic. They like Catholic school kids. May be stretch but send it. Yes go for Lehigh too. How about Bucknell, Dickinson?</p>

<p>Could someone provide me with a few reach schools. The problem is I just got my december act score back which was 5 points higher than my previous score</p>

<p>I think for BC maybe a reach, and Lehigh you have a good chance! The GPA is extremely low but your ACT is awesome! You can apply to the LAC and explain to admissions what happened etc!</p>

<p>so if I were to submit an application to those schools but my school wont send my transcript until after christmas break, will the schools refuse to look at my app?</p>
