<p>I can’t get my son to take Texas State seriously because it’s so close to his grandparents’ house. I need to show him this list of “final decisions.”</p>

<p>And have him take a look online of the progress of the 84 million dollar performing arts building. There is a Facebook page. Performing Arts Center at Texas State (scheduled to be completed in January)</p>

<p>spideyjump-When did your S audition for Elon? Was he called or was it online?</p>

<p>dcsparent - That’s an unusual reason to discount a school, but since he has another year before he needs to narrow down his list, he may come around ;)</p>

<p>dcsparent - you can also tell him most of the kids auditioning would give anything to go there. My S fell in love with the program, faculty and the area. He should attend something where Kaitlin Hopkins is working her magic. Within 10 minutes in a room with her we were captivated by her philosophy, teaching style, care for the kids…I’m sure he will land where he is supposed to though. Every school not a fit for everyone.</p>

<p>I realized later that I might have slighted my own parents! I just meant that it’s very familiar to him, and thus not nearly as interesting as the other places. But we’ll definitely visit.</p>
