It would be a lot of help if I could get feedback on this list of schools. I plan to stay instate (preferably Southern California) and becoming a chemical engineer. Are these schools good picks? I am looking for small classes and more applied than research (which is why the UC's aren't priority wants). I listed them by most wanted to least.

Harvey Mudd
Cal Tech
Standford
UCLA
UCSD
USC
UC Berkeley
UC David
Cal poly Pomona
UCSB
UCI

Of course, my chances of getting in are another matter.

I am female and Asian American from a middle class (5 person) family. Top 3% in school, 4.4 weighted, 3.8 unweighted, most rigorous classes (all 4's and 5's on my AP exams), and my test scores are decent. SAT I: CR (680) Writing (680) Math (630) - plan to take it again this coming month. SAT II: Chemistry (690), U.S. History (710)- planning to take Math IIC (am in AP Calculus BC at the moment). I am a little antsy on being so well-rounded with English and Math (notice how the scores aren't too different from each other).

For extracurriculars, I do a lot of martial arts (Aikido): 4-5 times a week for more than a year now. Library volunteering. Kiwins for two years (only a member). American Hearts Association (member) this year. I also work at my family's business a lot for no pay (just helping out the business) and am in an online and offline self-made writing group, but I am not sure if those sound much like an extracurriculars they are looking for.

How am I?
