You’re not going to lose out location-wise since Drexel and USciences are in the same area of Philly. USciences is more based towards pharmacy however you still could get your UG experience for med school. However are you willing to compromise your initial desire to major in Neuroscience so you can go to USciences? USciences is definitely an all-science school but Drexel, for only 4K more (if this is doable), will provide a more well-rounded education, experience, and an equally solid academic base for you to go on to med school. (Not to mention the co-ops! A friend of mine is going to Drexel this fall and is absolutely excited for it.)
@TheDidactic My cousin goes to Drexel and he raves about the co-op program. Co-op is definately one of the, if the not the, biggest incentive to go to Drexel. Neither school offers Neuroscience, which is my interest, but at Usciences they have an interesting Pharmocology and Toxicology major, while at Drexel I would be limited to Biology as a major, as not much else is specifically offered.
Well, pharmacology/toxicology is very different from neuroscience but it is still fascinating. Biology isn’t bad, but it isn’t as detailed. It’s more broad of a major in case you think about other career options.
OP I am glad you are looking at more financially sound options. You just have to search your heart and the choices. If you feel strong in all the degree options. Agree with post 22 about having a more narrow focus or a broader major - what suits you in the entire mix? Ultimately the academic experiences and having the UG degree work towards your career goals. Opportunities for internships and Co-op, research, etc. Keep reviewing information about the schools/programs, talk to people, etc. Talk to your parents. It may become clear cut, or it may be you push forward on faith.
