Right after I got my scores I posted a thread here. In Chem I got 680 and Math II is 610. DO you think they are good ??? I think I'm screwed up though. After the test I knew that I did very badly but now the scores are somehow better than expected.
Is the percentile the same for all tests in Jun,May,Apr,Dec .... ?? How do I know my percentile ???
:| now my summer is tougher cuz I have to take the SAT II again. :(

ok for math 2 i got 690 and thats 67th percentile so 610 would be like below 50 percentile. i dont know for chem

anything below 700 really isn't good =/
I had 650 on Physics and it was the 44th percentile
I had 740 on math and it was the 77th percentile.

i feel so fricked! I got 690 math2 and 720 French. Now idk if I'll have a solid shot at mcgill.

percentiles don't matter too much in terms of SAT IIs because if you think about it, so many people get 800s especially on the Math IIC that the percentile for that score is around a 91%. So, even if people ace the test, they will not be in the 99 percentile.

But the thing is that what colleges look at IS percentiles.

In May, a 610 was the 39th percentile.

Does anyone know what percentile a 700 is? that's my new score. Not great but i figure since we're on the subject...

What's considered a good percentile on the SAT II's at elite schools. Since it's a self-selecting group do colleges realize that percentiles will be lower for most people?

I would say aim for 700+. Have you ever tried Math level 1? Did you feel that Math IIC was too hard or that you just made dumb mistakes?

I got 800 on June Math Level II with 91 percentile.
Is is true that all 800s are 91 percentile or they differ?

If the percentiles differed, it'd remove the validity of the actual scaled score. So, no. All 800s are 91st percentile.

The percentile is defined by how many students you scored higher than. All scores of 800 receive the same percentile score, and that also tells you how many people got an 800.

I felt bad about these SAT II's also. I got 660 on Math II and 630 on Chem. How significant are SAT II's in the application process?

^ I'm actually interested in knowing the answer to this question too....

I would think they're pretty important, because they're a standardized way to gauge the intensity of your high school courses. Like sure everyone may get an A or a B in the actual class, but maybe they don't really know the subject matter as well as they should.

I did the test badly because I only had 1 week to review for Chem and Math II. The June SAT was only 3 days before my finals, so lots of stuff were due on that week. :|
actually Math II was tough but I think I will do it better next time. If you can master Math II, you can expect high score on SAT I.
about Chem, I have no idea why I got 680. I though I would get lower because the teacher at my school didn't teach me about half of the number of chapters in Barron's Review. :|

according to our postgraduate expert person at school, colleges don't look at percentiles very much on the SAT II because it's just the top tiny fraction of test takers that take it. The percentiles are really messed up, specially since people almost always choose to take the tests in their two best subjects. Clearly nobody's going to look at an 800 math II score and say it's worse than an 800 math I score because the 800 math I score is in the 99th percentile and the math II score is "only" in the 91st. The math II score is clearly better, and colleges know that. They're definitely looking at the score and (in math) the level of the test, not the percentile.
