what are the career options for finance majors?
why do most people studying business go into finance?

Because it's lucrative.

People go into finance because they enjoy working with money and investing/taking risks.

i guess i'm more confused about the career options for each major, relative to business. it seems like the line between career options for, say, finance major and management major isn't clear enough. so, even though i see the potential difference within each major, i don't see the significance of the differences when it comes to job positions, making me feel all the more insecure about my decision on choosing a major.

Because it doesn't really matter? If you have a finance major, does that mean your career paths are strictly limited to finance-related positions and you can never get a job as, say, a management trainee? The same with a management major. Employers want intelligent people, not anybody with a major in X.
