Finance or Engineering for MBA?

Hello college confidential.

I need help to decide whether I want to go into engineering or finance for my undergrad degree to receive a masters of business administration in the future.

As of right now I am undeclared. I do not have a specific passion or a drive to one major over the other, but I am pretty sure that I want to go down the business route (financial analyst/stock broker/ banker etc.)

I heard that you can receive your master's degree in business with out majoring in a business related field for the undergraduate degree. That and the fact that engineering is a relatively concrete discipline with high employment rate and good salaries made it more appealing.

Which major would you suggest? Would majoring in engineering potentially pigeonhole me into an engineering related job? And most importantly, are there any advantages in having a degree in finance over engineering when i have my MBA?

Thank you in advance.

You’ll be taught the same finance classes in grad school as you would in undergrad. While engineering might add some diversity to your MBA application, if finance is where you want to wind up anyway I would major in that and get a taste of the job market to see how you like it before you invest in an MBA.
