Financial Aid and Restarting College in Spring

What was your income in 2015? What will it be for 2016?

What school charges tuition for every two years? Is that a for-profit school?

The $6K can be made up by Pell Grant (if you are low income). The 12K loan is a student loan provided by filing FAFSA which is NOT a source of money but a qualifying document (you don’t get money from FAFSA). Certainly other scholarships can make up the difference but transfers rarely get scholarship $.

Your FAFSA EFC will determine your eligibility for a Pell Grant. What was your income in 2015?

Sorry about any confusion. I misread something and recieved some conflicting information. This link explains it better. https://www.■■■■■■■■■■/colleges/Indiana-University-Purdue-University-Fort-Wayne/tuition-and-costs

$17,000 is the annual cost. So i wouldn’t see much in the way of scholarships with a transfer?

You should get the information right from the college website.

Are you instate for IPFW?

Info about (transfer) scholarships

Here is an EFC calculator, choose Federal Methodology

If you are instate you wouldn’t be paying $17,000 to IPFW. Tuition would be around $6000 and then you pay for your living costs (rent, utilities, food). So the $12,500 loan should be sufficient. Maybe you would qualify for a transfer scholarship.

Contact IPFW about transferring, costs and financial aid/scholarships you might qualify for.

Is $6500 sufficient for rent, utilities, food, books, entertainment, transportation, shampoo, dental floss, clothes, shoes, etc.?

Thanks! That EFC calculator will help

How much are your living costs now? Can you commute to IPFW from your apartment or would you have to move?

Cheap right now, but the campus would be over and hour drive from where i live now. I’d have to move regardless.

Yes, at your age you probably wouldn’t want to live in the dorms. Hopefully there are affordable apartments closer to the campus. Lots of things to research.
