I just got my FA package and am pretty shocked at the lack of aid I received. My FAFSA EFC was 0, yet I’m expected to pay, little over $28k for Temple. Has anyone had any success in appealing their package?
Temple does not meet need, especially for OOS. Are you OOS?
Nevermind, I see you are. An appeal will do nothing, but you can try. Did you get a Pell with. 0 EFC? What else were you expecting?
Just wondering how do you know this - any OOS appeal is rejected?
Temple doesn’t meet need. Colleges charge higher OOS rates for a reason, and they’re unlikely to increase aid unless there are unpaid medical expenses or a recent job loss. Simply not earning enough to pay OOS rates won’t be enough to close a $28k gap. Most colleges just don’t have that kind of money to give. Did you apply to any financial safeties?
I don’t think that’s what I said @MELANIEROSE , but Temple is a STATE SCHOOL and there first priority is the taxpayers of Pennsylvania. OOS financial aid us not their priority. Unless NEW information is presented, an appeal will more than likely be unsuccessful. Temple does not meet need.
@iwanttogotoneu did you apply to Rowan? If money is an issue you would probably get good merit with your stats plus need-based aid.
@austinmshauri @jnkam24 I also applied to Rutgers, where I received a great financial aid package. Thank you guys for all your help!!
@iwanttogotoneu that’s GREAT!
same here, my efc is 60, yet my net costs before loans is 33k. I sent an email but not sure what they’re going to say.
Is the aid listed in the “Financial Aid Award” only financial aid? I was confused because I saw my merit scholarship NAME there. For example, I received the President’s Scholar which is full-tuition, but President’s Scholar is also listed in the financial aid letter.
It’s both.
