I got accepted ED and was offered only 8k per year Fin. Aid. After several renegotiations, I got it raised to 25k per year. To answer your question, it IS possible :)

Okay Cornell agreed to match Penn’s package, but I still don’t think Penn is willing to budge. :/

nehs: have you received your appeal? Was it successful?

Yes, I am very pleased. Penn essentially matched Northwestern’s offer. The people at the financial aid office were very helpful and honest/realistic.

Overall, I am ecstatic.

Be proactive, show interest, and they are helpful and willing to “reevaluate.”

Awesome, great to hear the good news! About how long did it take for them to reevaluate? I’m hoping I have similar good fortune :)

I faxed my information on a Thursday and recieved the “revision” via PennPlan online (I checked it, they did not notify me of the revision) on the next Tuesday. With the snail mail, I recieved my first package on the Wednesday (after I already knew they revised it) and recieved the new “revision” on Saturday. It was a very fast and efficient turn around.

Good luck to all.

Is there anyone specific you talk to try and negotiate the aid? or can you talk to anyone who answers the phone?
