financial aid disbursement delays

I attend university of FL., this is my first semester with financial aid, its for summer b

I was put up for verification and successfully verified on monday the 6th and was told to expect my disbursement very soon...i went and asked because i need to pay for housing very very soon.

they told me not worry doesnt take that long...but its FRIDAY NOW, no disbursement.., and it for sure wont come on saturday or sunday.

i will have to take out a loan if they dont come through in time, the deferments on tuition and housing only last some more days.

does it always take this long? its just a pell grant.

If your funds are under Title IV then they have 14 days to refund the surplus funds to you.

title 4? surplus funds? refund?

what what

Whenever there is more funds in your account than needed to pay for the cost of school the school has to clear up the account by either A: sending the money back to the lender, or B: sending the money to you. They have 14 days to do so under Title IV. A or B depends on what you signed for them to do with runds…

These are all bills due to the college - housing too? The college will receive the funds directly, they will credit your account, and that’s it. They will not give you funds to give back to them but you certainly don’t need to take a loan to pay for federal aid that is not in question! So, if your grant covers your full costs, you can relax…they’ll do the rest. If not, pay the remaining portion the Pell won’t cover by the due date. Call FA and verify this, so you’re not in any doubt about how your particular account is handled and you know for future reference…like fall semester!
